Our Mission
Jodie Richers’ original purpose with Canine Wounded Heroes was to rescue and rehabilitate old military and police dogs needing medical care and retirement homes. While doing that, Jodie discovered that placing those dogs with veterans suffering with PTSD often provided just what each other needed to cope with life after service. Then she recognized the need to keep working dogs safe from harm with bullet and stab resistant vests, and that has become a huge part of Canine Wounded Heroes mission.

DID YOU KNOW ... that the administrative amount that you see on our accounting statements consists only of bank and audit fees, state registration fees and the fees we must pay to participate in federal and state employee payroll deduction campaigns? Our board members and volunteers receive no compensation.
Why then, you probably wonder, does the administrative cost appear as high as it does. Donors may be put off by an administrative or overhead amount that seems too high.
Please note that although these necessary fees are set and constant, the amount is calculated and expressed as a percentage of the funds that we receive in donations.
Therefore, what you see depends on our income: the more we raise the lower our admin cost will be.
